Voices of Pell

Ta’Miya Riddle

It hurts as a daughter seeing your mother work herself to death day in and day out just so she can give you the life she never had,” Ta’Miya says. “I can’t wait to be able to repay her someday.”

The Pell Grant already “has been a huge help for me and my mom because it knocks some of the stress and weight off of us,” Ta’Miya says. But still, she said her mother is working very hard to support her goal of earning a college degree and becoming financially stable.

If Congress acts to #DoublePell it would mean that Ta’Miya’s mother wouldn’t have to work two jobs to be able to help send her to college. She is eager to graduate and start a career so she can ease her mother’s economic burden.
