Holly Hanson

San Diego State University and California State University, Northridge

Holly says that as a first-generation college student coming from a working-class family, “receiving the Pell Grant was a major contributor towards my finishing my bachelor’s degree.” Holly earned her BA from California State University, Northridge in Child and Adolescent Development and is currently in a graduate program at San Diego State University in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling. Her future goal is to work as a Disabled Student Programs and Services or an Extended Opportunity Program & Services counselor at a community college.

Holly says that the Pell Grant helped pay for school expenses she otherwise could never have afforded, but that as a commuter student at Cal State, Northridge, #DoublePell “would have taken the pressure off my family to subsidize my textbooks, transportation costs, and other required necessities.”
