Voices of Pell

Emilee Elaine Doppenberg

I currently work as a CNA (certified nursing assistant), and research lab tech for WSU in order to pay my bills, and purchase my supplies and books. If the Pell Grant were doubled I could find the much-needed time to delegate towards studying for the MCAT and less time working to cover costs!”

Emilee says that her Native American ancestors came from a long line of agricultural, military, and skilled trade workers, and that her father was the first generation of his family to graduate from high school, a tradition she wanted to carry on. Her dream is to attend medical school and become an acute care physician. That’s a goal that she has been working on every day since she began college.

The Pell Grant already has limited her student debt, but #DoublePell would decrease the amount of outside jobs she has to take and increase the amount of time she can spend working on her dream of becoming a doctor.
