On average, Dominique says, college graduates have a higher earning potential than those with merely a high school education, saying, “I picked college because I know that obtaining a higher degree will enable me to pursue the careers of my choice. Higher education is one of the most important doors to new possibilities and opportunities.”
Dominique notes that she is eligible for other grants and loans, but says the Pell Grant is a vital part of the financial aid mix when it comes to paying for her current two-year degree and planning to attend a four-year institution.
“The Pell Grant is a grant that does not need repayment, making it one of the greatest financial aid options,” Dominique says. “Doubling the Pell Grant can offer me with a substantial sum of money for my community college and university studies as ‘free’ money. I generally pay for my education, but grants and financial aid have been quite helpful in helping me finish my last few classes. I’m hoping that attending university will have the same effect.”
